Fastest Mobile Broadband Service In India

The brainchild of India’s richest man once again won the race. 4 years back everyone laughed when Mukesh Ambani struck a deal with his brother Anil Ambani, to use the latter’s nationwide optic-fiber network for a one-time charge of Rs. 1,200 crores.

When Mukesh Ambani launched Jio with unbelievable data plans and unlimited free voice calls, the whole nation was taken back. It threatened the existence of other cellular-network players in the Indian market.

Jio topped the list in the fastest mobile broadband service (for October 2017), by registering a peak speed of 21.9 Mbps (megabits per second). The difference between its competitor was way too high.

Vodafone emerged in the second place with 9.1 Mbps. Idea topped the list for the highest upload speed of 7.1 Mbps. The data was released by TRAI, which collects real-time data using an application called MySpeed.

Reliance Jio not only brought the concept of free calls, but also forced other networks to cut down the data tariffs by 70%. Given its blazing 4G speeds and low-end 4G handsets, Jio propelled itself to become one of the biggest cellular network. No wonder, Jio’s entry led into Vodafone and Idea merger, and Airtel – Tata Docomo – Telenor merger.
