Just a day after his discharge from the hospital after a week-long hunger strike demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP President YS Jagan unleashed yet another attack on his arch-rival and AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu. This afternoon, Jagan wrote an open letter to Chandrababu asking him ‘not to invite him’ for the Amaravati foundation stone-laying ceremony.
Jagan further requested Babu not to invite him and again complain about his absence at the grand event. Explaining the reasons behind his decision of not attending the Amaravati ceremony, Jagan said,
1. I am not attending the ceremony because of your failure in responding to my protests and complaints regarding your forceful acquisition of multi-yielding crops from the farmers in the capital region.
2. Why are the sections 30 and 144 being implemented in the capital region for the last one year even after your claims that the people in the region are happy?
3. I am not attending the inaugural ceremony because of your dictatorial ways that even opposed the courts, people and even the National Green Tribunal.
4. I am not attending the ceremony in a protest against your tyranny while acquiring the assigned lands of poor people in the capital region.
5. I am not attending the ceremony and not supporting your corruption while you give away the lands of poor people to foreign and Singaporean companies on a quid-pro basis for commissions and bribes.
6. Centre had given us Rs. 1,850 crores for construction of ring road and to develop infrastructure in the capital region. The centre had even promised to sanction more funds as per requirements after submitting the bills. when we have all the support from the centre, what was the need to utilize the services of private companies from Singapore and other countries?
7. People should be given the choice to decide freely whether they want to sell off their lands or keep them to themselves after the development of their lands with the construction of High Court, Secretariat and Assembly in the government lands. I am not opposing your own real estate businesses and hence decided not to attend the ceremony in a protest against your corruption as you are exploiting the lands of poor farmers.
8. You have acquired hundreds of acres of lands in the capital region under the names of your benamis but grabbed the lands of the poor farmers.
9. I have decided not to attend the ceremony in a protest against the wastage of valuable people’s money to the tune of Rs. 400 crores for the sake of just one day event.
Finally, Jagan concluded saying that he is not against capital construction and accused Chandrababu of laying the foundation stone not for the people’s capital of AP but for his illegal earning through this real estate business and to divert lakhs of crores of rupees to foreign companies. Jagan said that he is boycotting the ceremony on behalf of the people who are being exploited by Babu’s dictatorial ways.
