Director Anurag Kashyap labels Paatal Lok as the best ever crime thriller

Film maker Anurag Kashyap seldom shares on Twitter to talk about something he has admired. But his outlook seem to drastically change after he watched Paatal Lok on the digital streaming platform.

Amazon Prime Video’s recent web series, Paatal Lok produced by Anushka Sharma, starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi, Abhishek Banerjee, Gul Panag and Swastika Mukherjee in the lead, has unequivocally mesmerised the director to be left in awe.

In a row of tweets, The Gangs of Wasseypur fame director, Anurag commended the show for its story and excellent performances delivered by the cast. He downright labelled Paatal Lok as the “best crime thriller”, and tweeted, “My filmmaker’s heart is full of joy. I just saw PAATAAL LOK. The best crime thriller I have seen to come out of this country in the longest time, maybe forever. (sic).”

Anurag further shared that the web series is brilliantly written, shot and performed, and heaped praises for its subtle portrayal of rural and urban India. He applauded the entire unit right from casting to production and gave a special mention to the screen writer Sudip Sharma for executing well.

“It finds humanity in its darkest heart. It shows us the large gap between the rural and urban India.” Extremely well written, shot performed. It makes you realise , that only those who see and understand this large gap between the two India’s, will wield power over it (sic),” he tweeted.

Paatal Lok released at the wee hours on May 15th has created quite a stir within no time. The country already began marathon watching the nine-episode series. Meanwhile, Twitter massively influxes with positive reviews being shared dynamically by the audience, and the show has managed to pull off well impressing the critics too.
