Bollywood’s star hero Akshay Kumar never faced such a situation in his life. He is a very bankable star who comes with 3-4 films every year and most of them end up as good hits at the box office. Films of Akshay Kumar which do not get positive talk too earn respectable amounts of money and escape with minor profits. He is the highest tax-paying actor in India which proves his stardom and craze.
But he is going through a very rough period now. His ‘Bell Bottom’ which came out last year did not perform well commercially. ‘Atrangi Re’ which came out on directly on Hotstar got a very negative talk. His ‘Bachchan Pandey’ which was a remake of ‘Gaddalakonda Ganesh’ turned out to be a debacle at the box office despite having a star cast including him, Arshad Warsi, Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez.
His latest venture ‘Prithviraj’ came out on 3rd June amidst good hype and expectations. The film was produced by Yash Raj Studios on a huge budget and was made on the life of king Prithviraj Chauhan’. Former Miss Universe Manushi Chillar made her film debut with this movie which was directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi. Reports suggest that it was made on a budget of over 300 crores.
The movie failed to reach the expectations of the audience and the collections went down drastically after the first weekend. It collected around 50 crores in the first three days but all it earned till now was just 55 crores. The footfalls have been very low and the movie does not have a positive talk too which is not at all encouraging.
Bollywood sources reveal that a lot of shows are getting canceled as no one is stepping into theatres to watch the film. Trade experts reveal the movie is going to end up in massive losses. This will be a huge blow to Akshay Kumar who has become a synonym for success in recent times.
