Many political parties to expand its base and strengthen the party in the grass root level conduct membership drives in a grand manner. Recently right after the elections BJP buoyed by its spectacular success launched massive membership campaign.
Party president Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi took this exercise and recently they claimed that BJP became the world’s largest party with 8.8 crs members surpassing Communist Party of China which now has 8.60 crores.
Now even Congress party launched its membership drive and recently former PM Manmohan Singh and party president Sonia Gandhi launched a mobile app through which anyone can become member. However many say these are mere numbers and one cannot verify how many of them are newcomers.
Shockingly even opposition party MPs like the Congress got smses thanking them for becoming the member of BJP. With anyone having the option to become member with just a missed call, one can give as many missed calls as possible to increase the numbers. Unless until some checks are there many say one neednot think these numbers seriously. Many say members should be active and work for the development of the party.
