Senior TRS leader and Telangana state’s minister for R & B Tummala Nageswara Rao clinched the Palair by-election contest with a huge margin of 45,750 votes at the end of 15th round. Tummala defeated Congress candidate and Ramreddy’s wife Sucharitha Reddy to uproot Congress in its own bastion.
The Palair by-election contest was taken quite seriously by both Congress and TRS. While Congress managed to acquire the support from its arch rivals TDP and YSRCP, the TRS supremo KCR and his son KTR went all out to ensure Tummala’s victory. With this historic win, TRS’ count in Telangana assembly notched up to 86.
Crediting Telangana CM KCR’s efficient governance and progressive welfare schemes as the main reasons behind his victory, Tummala vowed to work hard towards fulfilling all his poll promises. CM KCR said that Tummala’s victory out-shined Kanthaiah’s record of 25,000 plus votes majority in 1972 and thanked the TRS cadres and voters for scripting this historic win.
