TS Govt. Gives Jackpot to Dil Raju

In a historic decision that can change the dynamics of the Telugu film industry, the Telangana government has approved the long-standing request of letting exhibitors screen 5 shows per day across all single screens in the state.

This is going to benefit producers, distributors and exhibitors recover their investment early. Piracy can also be controlled to some extent as more people can watch new films in the very first few days, thus restraining the need to rely on piracy. The immediate beneficiaries of the TS Govt’s decision are the upcoming Dasara releases, and the man with the Midas touch, Dil Raju.

It is known that Dil Raju is releasing all three noted films releasing during Dasara holiday season – Jai Lava Kusa, SPYder and Mahanubhavudu. Since he had invested relatively bigger sums for the rights, there was concern over how he can accommodate theatres and whether he and his exhibitors can recover the amount.

Now, the decision of the Telangana govt. to allow 5 shows per day has come as a boon for him. With multiplexes screening innumerable shows in the first few days and Single screens also getting permission to screen 5 shows, major part of the investment can be investment can be recovered very early. Audiences will also be happy as most would get the opportunity to watch their favorite hero’s films in the first weekend itself.

The Telangana government also approved the online ticketing system in theatres along with providing land for the construction of International standards worth Film Institute. Along with these, several proposals like mini theatres, cultural centres and housing sites for Film Federation Employees too have been approved.

Additionally, Rs 8 crores have been allotted for International Children’s Film Festival that will take place between November 8th and 14th in Hyderabad.
