The infamous Tollywood drugs case is back in the news after the ‘Forum for Good Governance’ secretary, Padmanabha Reddy filed a RTI petition seeking an update in the case, which became a sensational news in 2017. In a response sent to Padmanabha Reddy, Exercise Dept did not include the names of industry people who were called for questioning.
Around 62 film personalities including Ravi Teja, Puri Jagannath, Charmee Kaur, Tharun, Mumaith Khan, Tanish, Nandu and others were questioned by a special police team that was investigating this case, but no action was taken after that. Contrary to ongoing rumours that all the film celebrities were given clean chit in the drugs case, the fact is that the Exercise department has never given them a clean chit. In the latest announcement made by officials of Excise department, they have confirmed the same.
The officials stated that “a total of 7 chargesheets have been filed till date in this case and five more chargesheets will be registered soon.”. The authorities iterated that ‘whoever is involved in the drugs case will face respective charges and get punished”.
