Telugu Producer Tortured in Chennai?

The Telugu producer of Vijay’s Mersal has been running from pillar to the post over the censor of the Telugu version (Adhirindi) for the past couple of weeks. Although initially, the Telugu version is planned to release for Diwali (October 18) along with the original Mersal, it got deferred due to the delay in the Censor formalities.

Producer Sharrath Marar has already spent a bomb on the hoardings, advertisements and even blocked theatres by paying the advances.  A meticulous planner, Sharrath is shocked by the delay of the Censor Board.

“Since already the original version is passed by the Censor, all the Board has to do is to clear the Telugu version and issue a certificate that has to be collected and submitted at the regional Office in Hyderabad, after which the Telugu producer will release the film. But the Censor office in Chennai has been sitting on it for days causing delay for the film’s release,” divulged a source in the know.

Apparently, the Censor has been kept on hold for days pushing the film’s release. Sharrath is said to be worried a lot as huge money is at stake. Since the film got good response in Chennai, this would be right time to have film’s release in Telugu simultaneously.

Delaying the Telugu version could hamper its prospects and thus cause huge loss to openings as Piracy is a major threat. It is buzzed that the ongoing controversy of Mersal where there are a few critical comments on GST i.e against ruling BJP could also be a reason for the delay in the Censor of the Telugu version.

On the whole, Telugu producer Sharrath Marar is paying huge price and is suffering for no reason. Many opine that a Telugu producer is unnecessarily being targeted in Chennai.
