Telangana HC expresses dissatisfaction on government yet again

The High Court of Telangana has once again expressed dissatisfaction over the steps being taken by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state. The High Court, on Friday, held a hearing on the number of coronavirus cases in the state, and other details regarding the situation of the pandemic in Telangana.

The Telangana government has imposed a night curfew as part of curbing the spread of coronavirus in the state. The Advocate General brought to the attention of the High Court that the number of coronavirus cases reduced after the imposition of the night curfew. The High Court, however, questioned how and where the cases have dropped.

The HC asked what sort of action was being taken at bars, restaurants, theaters, and at public places during the day. The High Court even questioned whether those coming from Kumbh Mela in other states were kept in quarantine for at least 10 days. The HC noted that several other states were putting those returning from the Kumbh Mela were being put under isolation for 10 days, and asked why the government of Telangana wasn’t doing the same.

The High Court has also questioned why there were no reports pertaining to the number of coronavirus cases at the borders of Telangana. The HC questioned why there was a shortage of remdesivir, despite the fact that it is being manufactured in the state. The HC also expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that details of Covid centers have not been mentioned in the Covid portal. The HC asked what measures the government has taken up for migrant workers, and why RTPCR results were not being given within 24 hours.

The issue of Health Minister Etala Rajender Reddy mentioning that there’s a shortage of oxygen in the state also came up in the HC, but the government maintained that there’s no shortage. Furthermore, the HC asked the government to submit a full report about everything, by 2:30 PM on Friday.
