Speedunnodu Movie Review

Sobhan (Bellamkonda Srinivas) finishes degree in the fourth attempt and is that kind of person who does anything to help his friends. To help them, he is led in to a faction ridden Ralayaseema village Venkatapuram near Raptadu. When he tries to help his friends to win the love of Vasanthi (Sonarika Bharodia).

He is taken by surprise when she falls for him. That creates problems for him from his own friends. To further aggravate the issue, there is a rivalry between two villages heded by fathers of Sobhan and Vasanthi. What happens finally in their love story forms the next.

Performances:

Srinivas improved a bit from his first film but is still a long way to go. He should work more on his dialogue delivery and expressions. He is fine with dances. Sonarika do not get much to act but scorched the screen in the songs. During the start of the film, her makeup looked bad but improved later on. It was a treat to the masses with Tamannah in Bachelor Baboo song.

Madhunandan, Srinivas Reddy and Prithvi’s comedy worked to some extent. Shakalaka Shankar is a surprise. Rao Ramesh and Prakash Raj are good as fathers of the lead roles. Kabir Duhan Singh is good as a baddie. There is a long list of character artistes and they have performed well.

Technical Performances:

Sundarapandian is not any novel subject to be remade. We have seen several films with such subjects since 1980s. The treatment to the film is also on similar lines which is the biggest disappointment. He should have tried to portray the value of friendship, love, deceit efficiently which could have made the difference but failed totally. The film just drags on from start to end with out any thing exciting. Some comedy here and there, fights, dances and Tamannah’s item song is the only saving grace, that too for the masses.

Songs worked out well even though the tunes are not that great. Picturization and dances worked out well but their placement is a let down. Vasanth came up with an okay BGM work. Some of the locations are authentic and beautiful especially those in Anantapur. Camera work is fine but editing could have been a lot better. Production values are okay.

Plus Points:

1. Dances.
2. Tamannah’s item song
3. Very few scenes on friendship and family

Minus Points:

1. Routine Story.
2. Not so great comedy
3. Better direction and treatment.

Final Say:

Speedunnodu is a routine mass masala with no single element of novelty. There are few elements like dances, fights, skin show which may excite some sections of masses. To others, there is nothing much exciting and may skip it.
