Soukhyam Movie Review

Story:

Srinivasulu aka Seenu (Gopichand) is a happy go lucky guy who falls in love with Sailu (Regina). He starts his trials to woo Sailu. When she agrees to his proposal, she gets kidnapped by her family members and gets her match with a corrupt politician’s son. Seenu’s father asks him to forget her and move ahead. He agrees but secretly starts his mission to rescue Sailu. What happens next in the story forms the rest.

Performances:

Gopichand looks handsome and did his part well. The actor seem to have improved while emoting and also got well in to the shoes of the boy next door characters. Regina is fine and did justice to the character. The chemistry between them is decent. Sivaji Raja, Raghu Babu and 30 years Pruthvi managed some comedy.

Posani is good as well and is the only saving grace in the first half. Krishna Bhagwan and Brahmanandham were wasted in poorly etched roles. Veteran actress Shavukar Janaki is impressive in a tiny role. Pradeep Rawat who is the baddie in the film at the end turned comical.

Technical Performances:

AS Ravi Kumar Chowdary got every thing wrong with the story, execution and twists. Everything is boring about the film as it is predictable straight from the start to the end. The love track further irritates with too much drag. Even the episodes involving 30 Years Prudhvi and Krishna Bhagwan looked very cheap and out of place. Even villainy is so bad. Pradeep Rawat looked more like a clown than a villain. The climax is further boring. Brahmi’s entry and the song sequence in the climax further irritates the audience.

Anup Rubens’ music as well as the back ground score are below average. Songs are shot well due to good production values. Dialogues penned by Sreedhar Seepana are okay and is also the case with art direction. Its high time Kona Venkat and Gopimohan revisit their strategies with their stories and screenplay. Soukhyam may be the final nail in the coffin. Prasad Murella’s cinematography was decent. Editing is so bad and good half an hour can be chopped from the film.

Plus Points:

Nothing great to mention

Minus Points:

  • Boring Script
  • Bad Editing
  • Mediocre Music and BGM
  • Second Half
  • Forced Spoofs
  • Direction

Final Say:

Soukhyam is everything about what the film title is all about. Its an outright disaster for Gopichand, Kona Venkat, Gopi Mohan, AS Ravi Kumar Chowdary and all the involved parties. Gopichand should not have tried this movie at this time his career seem to be reviving. Skip it!!!
