Patna: Amid the controversy over film star Aamir Khan’s remarks, actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha today said he that he disapproved of the actor ‘labeling’ India as an intolerant and asserted that the country was inherently peace loving. “I am fond of Amir Khan and his family. But wholeheartedly disapprove of the idea of India being labelled intolerant by him and others too,” Shatrughan Sinha said on twitter. “PK, where Hindu Gods and Goddess were made fun of in no uncertain terms would not have seen such success if India was intolerant,” he said in an another tweet.  “Our vast motherland is inherently and essentially peace loving and respectful of every caste, creed, religion and celebrates communal harmony,” Sinha said. The actor, who is a BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib, has been outspoken in his criticism of party leadership in the past.

Sinha’s comments have come amid raging protest over Aamir Khan’s remarks on the same. In a recent interview, Khan made a remark where he said that he was alarmed over the rise in incidents of intolerance and also said that his wife Kiran was considering leaving the country.  On Wednesday, Khan put out a long note on his social networking handle asserting that he stood by his comments and made it clear that neither he nor his director wife Kiran Rao, had any intention of leaving the country.
