Andhra Pradesh and Telangana got ready to celebrate Godavari pushkarams in a grand manner. Both the governments took it as a prestige issue as they are the first pushkarams after the bifurcation of the state.
Both KCR and Chandrababu Naidu, CMs of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh boasted that all arrangements regarding safety and security have been made for the pilgrims for the holy pushkar bath. But in a shocker on the first day of the pushkarams itself huge crowds were witnessed and this resulted in stampede at Rajamundry.
Stampede resulted in death of 10 people at the main pushkar ghat. All the deceased were from Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam. Many persons were injured and women and children fainted.
People are furious at the arrangement made by the Government authorities. They blame that Governments are only keen to make arrangement for the pushkar baths of CMs KCR and Chandrababu and rob ordinary devotees without providing even basic facilities.
It is coming out that there are no proper ambulances, adequate staffs and even toll free numbers are not working. Massive traffic jams increased the difficulties of devotees.
