Red Star Dies In Hospital

Madala Rangarao, who is well known for revoluntionary films aka Erra Cinema, has breathed his last today at a private hospital in Hyderabad. He had been critical for weeks due to heart-related ailments. He was put on a ventilator.

He was known as Red Star. He started his career with a satirical film Chairman Chelamaiah. He also founded his own banner and produced films on Navataram Pictures.

He produced Yuvatharam Kadilindi which saw Murali Mohan and Raadhika in the lead roles. The film had won two Nandi Awards – Nandi Award for Best Actor (Prabhakar Reddy) and Nandi Award for Second Best Feature Film as producer (Madala Ranga Rao). It’s no less achievement. Madala Ranga Rao’s filmography includes Swarajyam, Erra Mallelu, Mahaprasthanam, and Praja Shakthi, Maro Kurukshetram, Erra Suryudu and Erra Pavuralu to name a few. He acted and produced in films.

“My films do not spread the naxalite ideology. They are aimed at bringing about social change,” he was quoted as saying in one of his old interviews. Tollywood and political fraternity are paying last respects to the Red Star.
