Is educational qualification an important background for a director or actor to excel in cinema industry? How many of the old generation directors and current upcoming directors have really done their graduation or post graduation before choosing this colorful glamour field as their area to work? Like many of us, even students at IIT Madras have thought that director Rajamouli is an Engineering graduate.
‘Do I really look like an Engineer? No, I am not. I just stopped my studies after Intermediate second year. Till my tenth, I am a good student with wonderful record in academics because I used to get nice support from my teachers. When I joined Intermediate at CR Reddy College in Eluru, I could not concentrate much. So, I received good blow with couple of subjects failed in Inter first year. Then I moved on to my native Kovvuru where I again appeared for both first year and second year exams to clear all of them. Then, I went to Chennai searching for some work in films,’ Rajamouli said.
It’s not that education is everything. Time teaches us many lessons in this journey of life which are invaluable. What Rajamouli is today is just because of his commitment, dedication, sincerity and honesty towards the work in a field he selected on own.
