Pawan: Dalits are being attacked under Jagan’s government

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has been very vocal about his opinions on the decisions that the government has been taking for the people of Andhra Pradesh. He never took a back step when it came to supporting the people of Andhra Pradesh. Today, an exclusive interview of Pawan Kaylan’s has been released on the official channel of Jana Sena on YouTube, and here are some salient aspects from the interview:

You said that you are following the Chaturmaasya deeksha for the welfare of the people. Can you please explain to us about this deeksha?

I’ve been doing Chaturmaasya deeksha for many years now, from 2003, for my own personal life. Now, I decided to do it for the welfare of the people because we are in dire need of a miracle right now. No one knew about this deeksha previously because I was just an actor back then. Since I’ve come into politics, it’s become a public matter now. During this deeksha, I eat only once a day, and sleep on the floor. The deeksha will continue till the end of Karthika maasam.

Coronavirus has become a huge threat to human life in the entire world. It is reeking havoc in India too. Many are saying that CM Jagan has failed in controlling the spread of the virus in the state of AP, what are your thoughts on it?

We need to be very neutral on this matter, and look at it very objectively. It would have been great if the governments were more vigilant, but everyone all over the world thought that this was just a passing cloud, and did not expect it to explode at this level. Even the government of Andhra Pradesh thought that this would end up being just another flu. However, the virus spread beyond anyone’s expectations and has turned out to be disastrous for the entire state. Since the hospitals have been overwhelmed during this period, things have become a lot more difficult. The state government should have been more careful, but their efforts towards testing are impeccable and highly appreciable. The government should still take care of a few more things, especially the way they are treating the patients at home.

The state government was supposed to give away nearly 10 Lakh houses to the poor a long time ago. However, that hasn’t happened yet, and there are speculations that the YSRCP is replacing the old names with new ones. What’s your opinion on that?

This has been happening for a long time now. Many have been complaining that they haven’t received the houses even after paying an initial instalment. What I think is happening is that every party that is coming into power is withholding the houses stating that an individual hasn’t voted for their party, and hence they wouldn’t get the houses. I think this system should no longer exist, and that the houses should be given to those who are entitled to them.

The bills regarding the 3 Capitals and the repealing of CRDA haven’t been passed in the Legislative Council, but the government is still very much pursuing those both bills with heavy interest. What do you have to say to that?

Everyone thought that Andhra Pradesh was supposed to have a very strong Capital, after the bifurcation of the united state of Andhra Pradesh. PM Modi even gave the example of Gandhinagar in that stead. The TDP government made a mistake by acquiring large amounts of lands from the farmers of Amaravati. It also wanted to develop a capital like that of Singapore’s, but what the TDP government failed to recognise is the fact that it is impossible to do so in Andhra Pradesh.

The YSRCP government should now realise that the development of the state doesn’t depend upon the number of capitals, it depends upon the way we plan to develop the state. THe government should quit the idea of 3 Capitals and respect the feelings of the farmers of Amaravati because it’s not good for the state to make so many farmers cry. A farmer’s tears are not good for the proper functioning of any establishment.

There have been a lot of speculations about the endless attacks on the Dalit community in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Starting from Dr. Sudhakar, to a Judge in Kadapa district, and even the misbehavior with a Dalit girl in Rajahmundry recently. Many are considering this to be an intentional attack on the community, is that true?

The Home Minister of the state itself belongs to the Dalit community. If there was only one case, then it could have been considered as a coincidence, but the repetitive manner in which these events are taking place is quite worrisome. It leaves you with no opinion other than to think that this is an intentional blow towards the Dalit community. It is very sad to see that the Dalit community is being attacked repeatedly, despite the state Home Minsiter being from that very community. I also feel that everyone who’s behind these atrocities should be punished severely.
