After making directorial debut with a romantic drama Prema Ishq Kaadhal, young director Pavan Sadineni took three long years to come up with his second film. Though he raised few eyeballs by teaming up with Nara Rohit and naming the film after heroine’s role, Pavan failed to showcase that novelty with the narrative. The film’s story and its treatment worked against the film. Rather trying to make a different attempt, Pavan tried to do a commercial film with Rohit which isn’t his forte.
Savitri is definitely not worth the wait. Pouring cold water on the hopes, the film failed to strike chords barring few laughs. Though producer seems to have spent more than the needed, many blame that the makers failed to translate it well, blame the poor planning. Even the trade talk for the film isn’t favourable.
Pavan failed to overcome the Dwitiya Vignam sentiment in the industry and joined the bandwagon of directors who lost to this sentiment. All in all, Savitri continued Rohit’s flop saga. Better-luck next time Rohit.
