After years of unsuccessful phase, NTR Jr is back and how! The actor now seems to be the toughest contender for top spot in Tollywood.
Earlier, NTR’s market in overseas and Nizam was pretty weak. But, he has not just improved his films’ BO prospects in these areas but has also set enviable records. With “Jai Lava Kusa”, NTR has become the 1st Telugu hero to have three consecutive $1.5 million films in US. He has achieved this feat even though all the three films received mixed talk.
NTR is surprising trade experts by minting money with even average films and without the help of star directors. None of NTR’s last three releases received unanimous positive talk but they still went on to earn respectful moolah and demonstrate what a crowd-puller he has become. The actor was once dropped from Top 3 because of continuous failures, but he has now stormed back and looks all set to lay his hands on the crown.
With Pawan Kalyan poised to take an active plunge in politics, Prabhas still to create non-Baahubali wonders and Ram Charan busy in image makeover, NTR and Mahesh look to be the only strong contenders for top spot.
The films of these two stars, SPYder and Jai Lava Kusa competed for this Dussehra. Neither of the two films received hit talk but Jai Lava Kusa earned respectful share whereas SPYder looks to become a disaster. With this result, NTR has gained an upper hand over Mahesh, in Overseas as well.
With NTR taking even below par and par movies to respectable position at box office, trade wonders what magnitude of tsunami he can create if his film receives hit talk from the word go.
