Mahesh has won 3 special Jury Nandi awards for Murari, Takkari Donga and Arjun in 2002, 2005 and 2006 respectively. Including the Best Male Debut Nandi for Rajakumarudu in 2000, Mahesh has won a total of 8 Nandi awards, the highest among his contemporaries.
The superstar has also won 5 Filmfare Awards South in the Best Actor category (Nominated three more times), 3 SIIMA and many more awards. An actor whose filmography has more flops than hits, winning these many awards, is truly an astonishing feat.
