15 members out of the 130 crore population are selected to represent our country in international cricket. Players are selected based on nothing but their performance on the field. Just imagine the thought of selecting these 15 members based on their caste, region or community!!
Ramdas Athawale, Union minister of state (MoS) in Maharashtra, seems to have got this harrowing idea of having reservation for Dalits in national team. Speaking at a meeting, the honorable minister said that he supports the idea of 25 per cent quota for SC/ST in the Indian cricket team. He even stressed that he was the first lawmaker to raise this demand.
Needless to say, Athawale’s statement has made him a laughingstock on social media.
