On May 2nd, Thirrupathi Brothers, the production house behind director Lingusamy’s films, filed a formal complaint against him with the Producer’s Council regarding the long-standing “Uttama Villain” issue.

The complaint alleges that Thirrupathi Brothers suffered significant financial losses after producing “Uttama Villain” in 2015. The production house claims a series of unfulfilled agreements with Kamal Haasan led to these losses.

In 2013, Thirrupathi Brothers signed an agreement with Kamal Haasan for a film with a budget of 50 crores. Kamal retained overseas and North Indian rights for 15 crores.
The complaint alleges that Kamal Haasan deviated from the initial script and disagreed with the proposed remake of “Drishyam,” which he later made under a different banner.
These changes, coupled with issues during “Uttama Villain’s” release, resulted in heavy financial losses for Thirrupathi Brothers.
To compensate for the losses, Kamal Haasan reportedly agreed verbally to star in a new film at a budget of 30 crores based on a script chosen by Thirrupathi Brothers.
However, despite a written agreement, the promised film hasn’t materialized even after nine years.
Thirrupathi Brothers have appealed to the Producer’s Council to intervene and ensure that Kamal Haasan fulfills his commitment to the compensation film. This development has caused a stir in the Ta
