Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao owes his political career to Telugu Desam Party patriarch and former Chief Minister late N T Rama Rao.Like many other political leaders, KCR too got his political life from NTR. He was such an ardent fan of NTR that he had named his son K Taraka Rama Rao after NTR.But, KCR seems to have forgotten his own godfather. He has stopped visiting NTR Samadhi at Tank Bund long ago to pay floral tributes to the legend actor on his birth and death anniversaries.
Recently, his government did not bother even to clean the Samadhi premises on NTR birth anniversary on January 18.Now, KCR has gone a step ahead and decided to reduce the NTR Samadhi area and also the NTR garden for the construction of the world’s tallest 125-feet statue of B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution.The NTR Samadhi will lose its relevance once the Ambedkar statue comes up there. What is more, KCR wants to rename NTR gardens as Ambedkar Gardens and the NTR Marg as Ambedkar Marg.
Well, nobody would deny the fact that Ambedkar is the tallest leader of the country and his memorial will be a rich tribute for the great man.However, the TDP leaders are pained for deliberately choosing the NTR Samadhi area for Ambedkar statue, though there are various other vacant spots around Hussain Sagar. It is not fair to erase the memory of NTR, say the TDP leaders.
