Movie On Controversial Subject Postponed Due To Elections!

April 24, 2024

The upcoming Indian elections are having a significant impact on the country’s film industry, with several high-profile releases being postponed. This delay extends to pan-Indian films like the sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD” and the action drama “Devara.”

The postponement trend has also affected regional cinema. Nara Rohit’s political drama “Prathinidhi 2” was scheduled to release on April 25th but remains unreleased due to censorship hurdles.

Another noteworthy film caught in the political crossfire is “The Sabarmati Report,” featuring Vikrant Massey and Raashi Khanna in lead roles. This drama, initially slated for a May 3rd release, has been pushed back to August 2nd, 2024. The announcement came from Massey himself via social media.

“The Sabarmati Report” tackles the sensitive and controversial subject of the Sabarmati Express incident, a tragedy shrouded in secrecy for over two decades. The event has been a source of intense national discussion for more than a decade. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, the film was submitted for censorship certification. However, the board recommended a revised release date, leading the makers to choose August 2nd.

There is significant anticipation surrounding the film, with many expecting it to be even more hard-hitting than recent controversial movies like “The Kashmir Files” and “Kerala Story.” The delayed release due to the elections only adds to the intrigue surrounding “The Sabarmati Report.”
