If I Believe, I Will Act for Love: Ileana Opens Up

April 25, 2024

Ileana D’Cruz, a leading actress known for her captivating performances in Telugu films like “Pokiri” and “Jalsa,” recently experienced a mixed critical reception for her latest project, “Do Aur Do Pyaar.” This prompted a candid interview where Ileana shed light on her character, the film’s journey, and the unexpected pause in her acting career.

While acknowledging her characteristic selectiveness in choosing roles, Ileana clarifies that her recent hiatus was unintentional. The unforeseen arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 disrupted her pursuit of promising projects. Filming for “Do Aur Do Pyaar” commenced in 2021, followed by her pregnancy, leading her to remark, “Sometimes, we have to take a break with nothing in our hands.”

Despite the break, Ileana revealed a strong personal connection to her character, Nora, in “Do Aur Do Pyaar.” “Like Nora,” she explains, “I am very sensitive. I crave deep, emotional connection. Public displays of affection, wholehearted love, and unwavering trust – these are things I wouldn’t hesitate to express. Nora embodies that spirit. She desires a man who prioritizes her completely, someone who’s by her side constantly.”

Ileana approaches criticism with a lighthearted perspective. “There will always be those who judge,” she says. “They form quick opinions about people. When I hear such things, I can only laugh them off.” Interestingly, Ileana was immediately drawn to the script of “Do Aur Do Pyaar” and readily agreed to the role, surprising even the director, Shirisha Guha Thakurta. The director likely hadn’t anticipated such a swift acceptance for a character with a somewhat flawed portrayal.

This interview provides valuable insight into Ileana D’Cruz’s personal connection to her craft, her ability to navigate career interruptions, and her optimistic approach to criticism. It also offers a glimpse into the creative decisions behind her role selection, highlighting her willingness to embrace characters with depth and complexity.
