Jagan Govt paves way for the audit report of TTD temple by CAG!

The holy shrine of the Lord Venkateshwara in the temple city Tirupati is one of the richest temples in the country. The Andhra Pradesh audit department has taken care of the audit reports of the temple so far. However, the media reports claimed that all the required arrangements were made for the transition of authority to audit the temple reports from the state department to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The new change in the audit authority took place after the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made the required arrangements. This enables the CAG to audit the bank accounts and funds of the temple. The demand to allow the audit of TTD funds by CAG has gained momentum, with BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy filing a PIL in the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

The MP has alleged that there are a lot of irregularities in the audit reports of the temple and batted for the audit report by the CAG. He said that, when the previous CM Chandrababu Naidu has not done something like this, CM Jagan agreed to his request.

It has been widely reported that the CAG will audit the reports of TDD from the 1st of April, which marks the starting of the Financial year 2021-22 and the arrangements in this regard are underway. The state audit department will submit all the details of the offering of devotees and the bank details to the CAG. The new development will add one more milestone in Jagan’s ruling as the previous CM has failed to do so.

On the other hand, the CAG is expected to audit the temple reports of other famous Hindu temples like Kanipakam, Srisailam, Vijayawada, and Srihalahasthi after Tirupati.
