I’ve Given Highest Remuneration To Dad: Ram Charan

Ram Charan for the first time has broken his silence on RRR and Sye Raa. Here are the excerpts from his candid conversation. What’s your first reaction when you first heard about RRR – multi-starrer with NTR?

My first reaction was silence. When Rajamouli garu told me about this, I was silent. NTR is very good friend of mine and working in such a big multi-starrer is really welcoming and I’m very excited, looking forward to. The scenes involving Tarak and me have come out really well. Rajamouli garu did a great job keeping in mind about the expectations.

Your reunion took a while after Magadheera. Were you and Rajamouli talks in meantime?

After Magadheera, Rajamouli garu became busy with his films. He was busy with Eega, Baahubali. There was no time for us to think about doing another film. But he seems to have plans. He came for Sye Raa movie opening and he was working on RRR script. He shared with me his plan later.

Sye Raa seems to have got delayed?

Sye Raa is a huge film involving vast cast. Film of that scale usually takes time. Now, everything is on track. Right now, song shoot is going on. The film is being made with big budget. I’m giving highest remuneration to Dad for Sye Raa. No one has given him such high remuneration.

Any plans to go to Bollywood again?

I’m quite happy here. Tollywood is shining. I’m not very greedy. I’m happy with Telugu cinema and south cinema. Even with Sye Raa, my aim is only South. I don’t have very big plans for Sye Raa in Bollywood. Focus is more on South and less on North. Post Baahubali, economics of South cinema has changed, particularly Telugu cinema. So, we need not go there. In fact, Bollywood is looking up to Telugu cinema.

After Chitti Babu in Rangasthalam, how did you move into Ram’s character in Vinaya Vidheya Rama?

Rangasthalam is a film which I’d cherish forever. Films like Rangasthalam won’t happen often. Dhruva was one kinda experiment and Rangasthalam was another kinda experiment and Vinaya Vidheya Rama is another kinda experiment altogether. It’s a commercial masala entertainer with perfect dose of action, emotion, family elements and drama. The action in VVR is never-before-seen and I’ve done never-before. Boyapati garu inspired me to do the role. The way he narrates scenes on the sets get you into the mood of the film. That’s why I had said every actor should work with Boyapati garu once. It is going to be a good watch for Sankranthi. I’m eagerly looking forward to film.
