Hello Day 5: Takes Nosedive

Akhil Akkineni’s “Hello” has taken a nosedive on its first weekday (Tuesday) following a below par extended holiday weekend. The Akkineni hero’s film witnessed almost 65 percent drop in collections compared to Monday’s collections.

Adding the mere 0.80 Cr distributor share collected on Tuesday, the five days total share from the Telugu states amounts to 9.23 Cr, with a gross of over 17.5 Cr. The worldwide gross is 26 Cr with a share of over 14 Cr.

The numbers would have been more than decent for a mid-range hero’s film, but considering that Hello is the film starring Akkineni family’s scion, the figures are embarrassingly low. After taking a poor opening on Day 1, which was shocking enough, Hello couldn’t capitalize on the positive reviews and encouraging word of mouth, giving further shock to everyone involved with the film and Akkineni fans. And, the Tuesday collections are further appalling, say trade reports.

Area-wise break-up of share:

Nizam – 3,60,00,000
Ceded – 1,55,00,000
Nellore – 32,00,000
Guntur – 94,00,000
Krishna – 77,00,000
West – 43,00,000
East – 59,00,000
Uttharandhra – 1,03,00,000

Total 5 days AP & TS share – 9.23 cr (Gross – 17.5 Cr)

Total 5 days Worldwide share – 14 Cr (Gross – 26 cr)

Considering that the film’s theatrical rights were valued at around 33 Cr, around 60 percent recovery yet to be done, Hello must not just sustain at box office but pick up in order to go anywhere near attaining break even status.
