Good News, Miniskirts Not Banned!

Contrary to a section of media reports that Chandigarh police have banned women wearing mini skirts in discotheques, pubs and star hotels, Union Territory Home Secretary denied of imposing any such rules. We have not banned mini-skirts. No such dress code has been prescribed in the policy framed by the Chandigarh administration recently,” UT Home Secretary Anurag Agarwal said in a statement.

As soon as the media reports spread like wild-fire, criticism came from various sections including women-rights organisations. Social-media ridiculed the UT. Quickly reacting on it, UT Home Secretary clarified that the reports are not true. “We have not banned mini-skirts. No such dress code has been prescribed in the policy framed by the Chandigarh administration recently,” UT Home Secretary Anurag Agarwal said.

However, the report hasn’t defined ‘scantily dressed women’ or ‘indecency’ and also doesn’t elaborate on sedition.
