Finally, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who left the Congress recently, has announced the name of his new political party. His party would be named Democratic Azad Party. The word Azad indicates that his would be a party based on the personal charisma of Ghulam Nabi Azad. The party flag will have blue, white and yellow vertical stripes.
The Democratic Azad Party would focus on Jammu Kashmir and work for the welfare and the uplift of the people of Jammu Kashmir. He said that he would think of expanding the party later. This means his party would be a regional party and would work to get the Muslim votes, mainly from the Chenab Valley comprising Doda, Kishtwar and Udhampur districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the party over 1500 names in Urdu and Hindustani were examined before zeroing in on the present name. He said he would focus on protecting democracy, independence and peace in the Jammu and Kashmir region. He said that primarily he would focus on the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
It may be recalled that Azad has raised a banner of revolt against the Congress High Command and demanded internal democracy. He said the party was being run by people who have no experience. He said that since Rahul Gandhi took over in 2017, the democratic norms were thrown to winds. Protesting against this, he resigned from the Congress Party.
