Senior hero Rajasekhar’s latest release, ‘Garuda Vega’ is being called as his comeback film. Director Praveen Sattaru has won huge applause. The film has received average to positive reviews and audiences are happy at watching a good film, Telugu film geeks are joyous at witnessing the raising standards of Tollywood. Everyone seems to be very happy, what about the film’s producer?
Despite good promotions, Garuda Vega took a weak opening. The collections saw a jump on Sunday, but the positive word of mouth hasn’t translated into box office numbers to the fullest. The makers could procure neither a good release date nor sufficient number of theatres, resulting in a below par opening weekend figure.
First of all, the film was made on a budget that was too high for Rajasekhar’s current market. Adding to that is the weak opening. First weekend is the backbone for films, but Garuga Vega couldn’t capitalize on positive word of mouth. Even if the film goes on to collect double from henceforth to what it had collected in the first weekend, which is a very very rare scenario in this age and times, it won’t be sufficient for break even status.
The producer however can get good prices for satellite and digital rights as the film received positive talk.
