Flop Director Paid Struggling Writer 50 Lakh for Story?

In an era when most biggies come under scanner for either lifting story from an already existing film/show or plagiarizing the work of struggling writers, noted filmmakers prefer to buy rights legally so as to avoid any hurdles in future.

The latest we hear is that director Srinu Vaitla has paid a struggling writer named Vamsi a whopping Rs 50 lakhs for the story. The newcomer didn’t have any qualms in letting go his story as he got paid a lucrative sum in return. Vaitla bought this story for his new film starring Ravi Teja in lead role.

In his career, Vaitla has either written his own stories or taken from Kona Venkat-Gopi Mohan duo. This probably is the first time he bought story from a third man. His disastrous streak (3 disasters in a row – Aagadu, Bruce Lee and Mister) could be a reason why he decided to splurge Rs 50 lakh on the story for his next.a

Tentatively titled, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, the film will feature Ravi Teja in three distinctly different avatars. Vaitla is currently busy finalizing the cast. Mythri Movie Makers will bankroll the project. Besides the engaging story, Vaitla-brand comedy is said to be the strength of the film.
