Tamil Nadu Film Industry, popular as Kollywood, is on a strike protesting the arrest of former chief minister and yesteryear actress Jayalalithaa. Supporting Jaya, Tamil film fraternity is sitting on a hunger strike in Chennai and have even shut down the theatres. With this the entertainment industry and its allied sectors have hit badly.
It may be recalled that CBI special court has sentenced 4 year imprisonment to Ms Jaya and her 3 close aides in the case of disproportionate assets. The court has imposed a whopping fine of Rs 100 Crore for Jaya while her three aides are fined to the tune of Rs 10 Crore each. Jayalalithaa is presently serving her term in Bangalore prison.
