Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh bombing at the Box Office is no longer breaking news. It’s common knowledge that the film incurred hefty losses to its buyers. However, inside buzz is one leading distributor was saved from the disaster. It’s none other than producer-distributor Dil Raju.Given that Pawan’s last two films were blockbusters, SGS had a great demand for its theatrical rights and the movie garnered record-breaking prices in all the regions including US. These prices increased the demand for its Nizam rights further where PK has good foothold.
It is reported that there were several big distribution companies to bag the rights for this area.Although many other distributors were backed out of race considering record-price for the Nizam theatrical rights of the film, Dil Raju was very keen on bagging them till the end. At one stage, Dil Raju was the front-runner and he was even ready to buy them for whopping Rs 26 Crore. But due to Indra Films association with Eros International, the Nizam rights were sold at a relatively lesser price.
Dil Raju might had felt bad then for not owning the rights, but he must be definitely thanking his fortunes for saving him from Sardaar. Had Dil Raju bought the film for Nizam, he’d had lost a bomb. Already, Raju had suffered over Rs 5 Crore loss with distribution of Bruce Lee. Had he done Sardaar as well, definitely, it’d had pushed him into more troubles. Fortunately, it got averted and it was close shave for him. It’s indeed a blessing in disguise for Raju. What say folks?
