Dagudumutha Dandakor Movie Review

Story:

The Film is about Raju Garu (Rajendra Prasad), the head of a large family and highly respected personality in the village, his Grand Daughter (Sara Arjun) and a Rooster (Nani) she loves the most. Entire family of Raju Garu reaches the village for the vacation and an ill-fated event occurs when they go to a temple. The family then decide to perform a religious ritual which include slaughtering of a Rooster for good fortune. The path chosen by Raju Garu’s Grand Daughter to save his dear friend, a Rooster, forms the rest of the tale.

Artists Performance:

Rajendra Prasad’s look as Old Man is a blunder and more care should have taken when it comes to make-up. He, however, does score brownie points with his mature performance.

Child Artiste Sara Arjun (Nanna fame) is simply superb. It’s a treat to watch her varied expressions and she conveys so much through her eyes. Undoubtedly, She is a major attraction and the star of this movie.

Ravi Prakash, Nithya Shetty, Siddharth Varma, Sandhya, Sri Harsha and rest of the cast have played their parts to perfection.

Plus Points:

  • Sara Arjun
  • First Half
  • Message

Minus Points:

  • Lacks Emotional Depth
  • Predictable Second Half
  • Lethargic Pace

Analysis:

‘Dagudumootha Dandakor’ is a remake of Tamil flick ‘Saivam’ which received a lot of critical acclaim. Ramoji Rao & Krish collaborated for the first time to produce a feel-good movie for Telugus.

Music by ES Murthy is quite good. Cinematography is top notch. Dialogues leave an impression. Even with a run-time of 124 Min, Audience get the feel the pace of the movie is very slow and few scenes in the latter half should have been chopped. Production Values are decent enough.

‘Dagudumootha Dandakor’ is a rustic village drama with a very good message. However, Debutante Filmmaker RK Malineni failed to retain the soul of the original. Factors like no emotional connect, predictable screenplay and slow pace works against it. The script has the potential, sadly it wasn’t executed properly to reach out to a larger section of audience.

Box Office: ‘Dagudumootha Dandakor’ is a film which could hit the right chord with family audience, a section that sees Television as an alternative for Movies and almost stopped thronging theaters. Hence, Box Office prospects weren’t encouraging especially when the content isn’t up to the mark!

Verdict: Good Intention, Bad Execution!
