COVID-19: Sec’bad Club Shut For First Time In 142 Years

The pandemic of COVID-19 is taking the world by many unwanted surprises as it spreads its grip everywhere. Except a few countries, almost all the places registered at least a couple of Corona cases now, leaving health officials, administration and also the people in surprise.

For the first time in hits history, after it was opened to the public in 1878, the iconic ‘Secunderabad Club’ got closed other day. That is nearly 142 years after its inauguration, the elite club which has cricket and volleyball grounds, and hosts five-star accommodation for visiting foreigners, shut its famous three gates. As per the government’s directive, the club remains closed from March 16 to 21.

Built in 1878 by the British, The Secunderabad Club is one of the oldest clubs in India that has almost 8000 members. While it was open to Britishers and high ranking nobility until 1947, now the club is for all, and that is why it is not even closed on Sundays and other holidays. But due to Corona outbreak, there is no other option than shutting it down.
