Nithiin, who has been in prime form since Ishq, tried to continue his success streak with Chinnadana Neekosam. But Karunakaran, who has seen many ups and downs in his career so far, has let him down.
Story :
Nithin (Nithiin) falls in love with Nandini (Mishti) and asks her to share a coffee with him. Nandini doesn’t like him but she couldn’t avoid him as she needs his help in renting a penthouse owned by Reddy (Nasser). Nandini also gets close to Nithin’s family, but one day she leaves to Barcelona without telling to anyone. Nithiin finds out a truth about her and goes to Barcelona.
Performances:
Nithiin: Nithiin is in his elements in this film and has pulled off humorous scenes with ease. He is very good in the teasing scenes, but as an actor this film doesn’t put him to test at any instance. He has done this type of characters in many of his previous movies.
Others: Mishti is okay as the female lead. She can emote and looks good beside Nithiin. Nasser played the key role in this film and he is good as usual. Naresh and Sitara are entertaining as Nithiin’s parents. Dhanya did the character of Mishti’s friend and she is fine. Ali’s comedy didn’t work at all.
Technicalities:
Direction:Karunakaran has once again disappointed with lackluster story and pointless direction. First half has good fun moments but it is highly predictable all the time. Second half is a total let down. Karunakaran fails as a director as he couldn’t get the love story right. Even the family drama is weak and totally out of place.
Others:Music by Anup Rubens is average at best. Anup who scored musical hits for Nithiin in the past fails to deliver this time. Cinematography is okay. Vibrant visuals and production values are the only positive about this film.
Thumbs Up:
Comedy in First Half
Thumbs Down
Everything in Second Half
Analysis:
Chinnadana Neekosam doesn’t have anything to please the audience except for few comedy scenes in the first half. Tom and Jerry kind of love-hate war between the lead pair is entertaining to an extent. Despite a routine and formulaic first half, CNK is alright up to the interval point. We expect similar kind of time pass stuff in the second half, but the film goes off track after the story shifts to Barcelona.
Director tried to pull it off with the help of Ali, but poorly written scenes and awful chemistry between the lead pair doesn’t help a bit. Nithiin also used his Bramhastra (Pawan Kalyan’s visual from Badri’s Chikitha song) to make it work. However Powerstar too couldn’t help him this time.
Chinnadana Neekosam is a bad film that tries hard to please the audience with comedy and romance. Poorly written script didn’t let the film to stand on its feet and the awful second half has crippled it. Nithiin’s previous film Heart Attack ended up as an average, thanks to his red hot form. However CNK will need a miracle to achieve what Heart Attack did.

Verdict: Karunakaran messed up the Second Half
