Centre fires CBI missile at KCR?

Telangana chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao looks to have suddenly got into the bad books of the Centre after he had proposed the non-BJP, non-Congress third front.

Latest reports suggest that the Centre plans to restart the CBI enquiry against KCR in the Sahara scam.

There were allegations on KCR, who was Union Labour Minister in 2006, that he had favoured Sahara Group by allowing the company to manage EPF accounts on its own, by taking some monetary benefits.

For the unknown, the Sahara Group committed fraud by not depositing employer’s contribution in EPF accounts and also used employees contribution for its O interest.

An investigation launched to probe the issue found out that the company duped about 11 lakh employees and central government to the tune of Rs 7,000 crore.

Reports suggest that Centre plans to restart the CBI prove in this case.

Political analysts say the probe can tarnish KCR’s image irrespective of whether he was guilty or not. They add that the CBI enquiry is nothing but a warning to the Telangana CM in order to keep him restrained.

It needs to be seen how KCR charters his future course of action against the NDA regime.
