Dil Raju was once popular for churning out films with content. He was known as producer with good taste as films have had good content. He has produced several critically acclaimed films as well as commercial successes. But it is all gone. That phase is passe.
If one closely observe his recent productions, all of them merely run on the combinations. He picks up a director (who obeys him) and works out a combination with a popular hero, heroine who has good market. Once the film roll on, Raju knows who to cash it. He sells off the distribution rights of most of the regions and keeps only a few areas for himself in which he has complete command on theatres.
Going by his recent productions, it is obvious that Raju has switched his style of work from ‘content’ to combinations just like most of the other producers in the film industry.
Especially, in 2017, only Shatamanam Bhavati and Fidaa are conceptual films backed with good story. The rest of his productions (this year) have an age-old story and that is reworked with different cast. Be it Nenu Local or DJ or Raja The Great or the latest MCA, the stories have been as old as hills.
Industry folks opine that ‘Bommarillu’ Dil Raju is missing. Even Raju has fallen into the numbers game and leaving content to the second. These days, Raju openly saying that he is not bothered about what critics say and aver that what matters to him all is the Box Office figures. Tollywood is certainly missing ‘Bommarillu’ Raju.
