Pre-Independence Era Backdrop Fixed For Prasanth Varma’s Next!

April 30, 2024

Young director Prasanth Varma has carved a distinct niche for himself in Indian cinema with his penchant for unique concepts and unconventional storytelling. His early films, including “Awe!,” “Zombie Reddy,” and “Kalki,” showcased his creative vision and ability to experiment with diverse genres.

However, it was the 2024 superhero flick “Hanu-Man” that propelled Varma into the spotlight. The film’s phenomenal success, grossing over 300 crores, cemented his position as a director to watch. “Hanu-Man” distinguished itself by offering a refreshing take on the superhero genre, a testament to Varma’s commitment to originality.

Currently, Varma’s plate is full with exciting projects. While the highly-anticipated sequel “Jai Hanuman” is in the scripting stage, he is actively working on “Octopus” with the talented Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role.

Beyond these ventures, Varma is gearing up for a groundbreaking collaboration with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh. This period drama, rumored to be titled “Rakshas,” promises to be a visually stunning spectacle set against the backdrop of pre-independent India. Sources suggest that Ranveer Singh’s character will be the central focus of the film, and with Varma’s direction, it has the potential to be a career-defining performance. Pre-production for “Rakshas” is reportedly underway, with an official pooja ceremony expected soon.

It’s interesting to note that Ranveer Singh currently has a busy schedule, filming for “Don 3” under Farhan Akhtar’s direction and also committed to “Singham Again.” Despite his packed schedule, his involvement in “Rakshas” signifies the growing recognition of Varma’s talent amongst A-list Bollywood actors.

Reports indicate that “Octopus” will hit theaters before “Jai Hanuman,” further piquing audience interest in Varma’s upcoming projects. Considering Varma’s track record of delivering unique narratives, “Octopus” is likely to be another thought-provoking film.

With his upcoming projects, particularly the collaboration with Ranveer Singh, Prasanth Varma is poised to make a significant mark on Indian cinema, both in terms of critical acclaim and commercial success. The industry eagerly awaits the culmination of these ventures and the innovative stories they promise to bring to life.
