AP reopens schools despite Coronavirus

All educational institutions in the country have been shut down ever since Coronavirus started spreading rapidly in India. For nearly six months, all educational institutions have been shut down, and classes are being conducted online.

No state in the country is even remotely considering the reopening of schools, but one government has already started implementing the plan. The Andhra Pradesh government has reopened all schools in the state, and is also conducting classes.

The government said that all precautions are being taken, where students are mandatorily being made to wear masks, thermal screenings are being done, and social distancing is also strictly being followed. The government also said that only 16 students are being made to sit in a class, at 6ft distance each, in a criss-cross manner, so that there’s no sort of contact between them. For now, only the 9th and 10th class students are being made to attend schools, and the remaining classes will reportedly be made to attend school in a phased manner.

When questioned about the safety of the children attending schools, the government said that the schools have been thoroughly sanitised and the surroundings too. In this case, the opposition leaders have asked what the YSRCP’s problem is, with going ahead with the local body elections, when they are more than willing to go ahead with reopening schools.
