The phenomenal run of Aamir Khan’s Dangal in China is helping the film scale unprecedented records.
By crossing the USD 300 million global gross, Dangal has now emerged the fifth highest grossing non-English language film of All Time, according to a report in Forbes.
Top 5 Highest grossing Non-English Films:
1. The Mermaid (China): USD553 million
2. The Intouchables (France): USD427 million
3. Monster Hunt (China): USD386 million
4. Your Name (Japan): USD354 million
5. Dangal (India) : USD301 million (Rs 1930 crore)
Given that Dangal is still running to packed houses in China, the sports drama may eventually overtake the Japanese film “Your Name” and leapfrog to fourth place in the All Time list. China’s box office has so far contributed about Rs 1200 crore to Dangal’s total revenue. The collections are substantial enough to let the film run for a few more days in the neighboring country.
Meanwhile, Baahubali 2 is gearing up for a big release in China very soon.
