Claiming it as their way to immortalize former Tamil Nau chief minister and AIADMK supremo, Jayalalithaa, the current leadership of the party has the other day unveiled a life-sized statue of hers at the party headquarters in Chennai. Shockingly, the statue received backlash from Amma’s followers themselves. And, the reason is, the Statue doesn’t look like Amma’s.
Netizens expressed their anger on social media and said that AIADMK leaders had embarrassed Amma with their careless act. Many pointed out why didn’t they hire a decent sculptor when they planned to install such a colossal statue. Few others said that party leaders had no respect for Amma and that they had unveiled the statue only to appease her followers.
In the wake of the severe backlash, AIADMK leadership reportedly confessed its blunder and promised to make necessary corrections to the statue, which was installed to mark the 70th birth anniversary of the Jayalalithaa. The statue was placed near that of party founder MGR’s.
