5 States oppose Special status to Telangana & AP

Even as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are fighting for special status from Union Government, in a shocking development it is coming out that five states are objecting to special status. Union Government sources say though informally assurances have been given to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on special status, no specific orders were given on the matter.
Insiders say Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal and Odisha wrote letters to Prime Minister opposing Centre’s move to grant special status to the two Telugu states. In the last six months Andhra Pradesh CM Chandra Babu and his officials met Union Commerce Minister 16 times demanding special status and incentives but nothing concrete cameout.
Telangana too joined the race but outcome is same. Sec 93 and 94 of bifurcation act specifically mentions about special incentives for industrial and economic development of the successor states.
