US Visa Scam: Indian Govt Working to Get Detained Students Back

The Indian External Affairs Ministry is leading our government’s efforts to gain information about the eight Indian students who’re detained for an alleged immigration fraud. According to official spokesperson for Indian External Affairs Ministry Raveesh Kumar, our government is in touch with the Indian embassy in Washington and also other consulates.

They sought the list of Indian students who were detained, their identity details and the place of detention from the State Department and the Department of Homeland, an agency that cracked visa scam by floating a fake University of Farmington. “We’ve placed a formal request for consular access, emphasizing that the request may be taken as very high priority,” Raveesh added.

In the meanwhile, the Trump-led US government has already cautioned immigrants with unlawful presence to leave their country before 5th February, else they will have to face strict legal actions and forceful deportation. Yesterday, the North America Telugu Society (NATS) has come forward and designed action plan to offer legal support to our Telugu students in custody.

On other hand, families of those Indian students who were arrested plunged into despair after knowing about the situation.
