The Indian and Hindu community in the Forsyth County in North Carolina, United States is deeply shaken with the news of nearly 60 gun shots fired at a sign of an under construction Hindu temple. The incident was first noticed on last Saturday. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the case, has found more than 60 holes in the sign.
The shooting incident took place at the 7.6 actress site purchased by the Om Hindu Organisation of North Carolina which has planned to build a 3,600-square-foot temple in Clemmons. The Om group, after it noticed the vandalised sign last Saturday, said that it could be some kids playing, before informing the Sheriffs.
The Sheriffs have not yet found any suspects but they are not ruling out hate crime. However, the vandalism will not affect the group’s plans to build the temple. The Indian 500 family Hindu community has the support of the local church and the former Mayor of Clemmons, John Bost. The incident gains more prominence following the attacks on the North Texas Hindu Mandir in Dallas in April and the attack on two Hindu temples in Seattle, Washington.
