Mythri Producers Laud Quality In Kerala Films!

March 23, 2024

The Malayalam film industry, often referred to as Mollywood, has been garnering significant praise from leading figures within the Telugu film industry, also known as Tollywood. This recognition highlights the growing appreciation for the exceptional quality and storytelling prowess of Malayalam cinema.

SS Rajamouli, the acclaimed director behind the blockbuster “Baahubali” franchise, recently lauded Kerala’s filmmakers for their narrative abilities. He even jokingly expressed a sense of envy towards their creative talent. Previously, Rajamouli commended the superior quality of background work delivered by Mollywood’s technical teams.

This trend of appreciation continued with Mythri Movie Makers, a prominent Tollywood production house, acquiring the remake rights of a Malayalam film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. During a press meet, Ravi Shankar, a partner at Mythri Movie Makers, acknowledged the remarkable efficiency of Malayalam filmmakers. He emphasized their ability to produce movies with equivalent quality standards at a significantly lower budget compared to Tollywood productions. Ravi Shankar specifically applauded the technical expertise of the Malayalam crew behind the Prithviraj-starrer, highlighting the exceptional production value achieved within the film’s budget.

The upcoming movie, directed by the National Award-winning Blessy, features Prithviraj portraying the struggles of a Malayali man who journeys to Saudi Arabia for better employment prospects. However, his dreams are shattered as he finds himself working as a goatherd in the harsh desert environment. The film promises a captivating narrative that is both emotionally resonant and inspiring. The project boasts an impressive technical crew, including Academy Award winners A.R. Rahman for music composition and Resul Pookutty for sound design. With its talented cast and crew, the film is anticipated to be a major cinematic release scheduled for March 28th.

In conclusion, the recent outpouring of praise from Tollywood towards Malayalam cinema signifies a growing recognition of Mollywood’s creative strengths. The industry’s reputation for exceptional storytelling, coupled with its cost-effective production methods, is attracting significant attention. With the upcoming release of the Prithviraj-starrer, audiences can expect a powerful and impactful cinematic experience.
