‘Varisu’ is a Tamil family action drama that had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. Rashmika Mandanna is the heroine in this movie while Dil Rjau is its producer. Vamsi Paidipally handled the megaphone for this prestigious project. With the Telugu stars being busy with back-to-back commitments, Vamsi Paidipally looked towards Tamil Nadu and convinced a huge star like Vijay for this project.
This is his first straight Tamil movie. Though his super hit movie ‘Oopiri’ was released as ‘Tozha’ in Tamil Nadu, ‘Varisu’ is considered as his first Tamil project since it was made in Tamil nativity with noted Tamil actors. On top of that, this is the first production venture of Dil Raju in Tamil as well. Vamsi made such a big movie on a very grand scale and generated a lot of buzz. It was released on 11th January in Tamil Nadu while big releases forced them to release the movie on 14th January in the Telugu states.
It is very rare to see Telugu directors who scored a hit with a straight Tamil film. A lot of directors tried their luck in Kollywood over the years but none of them managed to direct a star hero. But Vamsi Paidipally stands above everyone in the list and had a huge release on 11th January. The movie is creating a sensation at the box office now.
‘Varisu’ which was released amidst huge expectations has impressed Vijay’s fans a lot and bagged record collections. The movie earned a whopping 35 crores on the very first day and became the highest Day 1 earner in Vijay’s career. The movie collected 210 crores till date and turned into the highest-earning movie in Vijay’s career till date. Paidipally managed to achieve something none of the Telugu directors managed to achieve in Telugu.
The collections for the dubbing version in Telugu states are quite decent as well and the trade experts are shocked to see such huge collections for this movie. Hero elevations are the main reason for Vijay’s fans getting highly impressed with this movie. Director Vamsi Paidipally made sure that the fans are satisfied and came up with ample elevations which pleased the audience pulse. Vamsi surprised everyone with his taking and the Tamil movie lovers are completely satisfied. As Telugu movie lovers, we know his capability but getting recognition for other state fans is always special.
