Thalapathy Vijay & Danayya Movie Not Happening?

April 11, 2024

The South Indian film industry is witnessing a growing trend of Tollywood production houses venturing into Kollywood territory. Prominent names like Mythri Movie Makers, Sithara Entertainments, and People Media Factory have successfully established themselves in the Tamil film market with medium and big-budget productions in recent years. This trend extends to established producers like Dil Raju, who produced the successful “Varisu” starring Vijay, and DVV Danayya, known for his work on the blockbuster “RRR.”

Danayya’s involvement in a potential project with actor Vijay had generated significant buzz. This collaboration was speculated to be Vijay’s final film before his foray into politics, with DVV Entertainments being a potential backer. Notably, the producer did not explicitly deny these rumors, further fueling speculation.

However, recent whispers in Chennai suggest a potential change of course. Reports indicate that Danayya may be departing from the project. Reasons for this alleged withdrawal are attributed to Vijay’s remuneration demands and his preferences regarding the film’s director and story. While no official confirmation exists, the adage “there’s no smoke without fire” holds weight in such situations.

Vijay’s political ambitions are well-known, and the film is reportedly envisioned to support his political entry. Director H Vinoth’s story reportedly resonated strongly with Vijay, making him a potential candidate for the project. Currently, Vijay is engaged in filming Venkat Prabhu’s “Greatest Of All Time (GOAT),” progressing at a rapid pace with an anticipated completion within the next few months. While Vinoth remains a possibility, other directors have also pitched stories, none of which have materialized yet.

The fate of Danayya’s involvement and the identity of the eventual producer remain shrouded in speculation. Time will reveal whether these reports are merely rumors or a genuine shift in the project’s direction. This trend of Tollywood producers entering Kollywood presents intriguing possibilities for collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas. However, potential friction points regarding remuneration and creative control also deserve consideration as these ventures unfold.
