Congress firebrand leader Renuka Chowdary’s victory in the HMT staff elections has stunned the ruling TRS party. Renuka defeated Quthubullapur TRS MLA Vivekananda and is going to be the new chairman of HMT staff union.
There were a total of 151 votes and 141 members have cast their vote. Renuka Chowdary got 79 votes while Vivek received 65 votes. With a difference of 14 votes, Renuka emerged victorious and she will be occupying the chairman position for which TRS B Vinod is representing currently. The results of HMT staff elections were declared on Saturday.
This is for the second time, Renuka will head the HMT staff union. Earlier Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao has worked as HMT union president.
